A Tradition of Faith & Fellowship

Spirit Fest History

For a quarter of a century, Spirit Fest has been a cornerstone of our Catholic community in Faribault. As we celebrate our 25th anniversary, we honor a tradition that is more than just a festival; it's a testament to the enduring power of faith, the joy of fellowship, and the spirit of service that defines our parish.

The story of Spirit Fest begins not with a large festival, but with a simple parish picnic. Its roots trace back to the year 2000, a legacy carried forward from one of our founding parishes even before the official formation of Divine Mercy. In those early years, families gathered at the Rice County Fairgrounds to share a meal, celebrate their faith, and build community.

Over the decades, that humble picnic has blossomed into the vibrant, weekend-long celebration we know and love today. After our new church was dedicated in 2009, Spirit Fest found its permanent home on our parish grounds, solidifying its place as our signature annual event.

While the games have gotten bigger and the food more varied, the heart of Spirit Fest remains the same: to bring our community together in a spirit of joy and welcome. It is our largest annual fundraiser, with every dollar raised supporting the vital missions and ministries of Divine Mercy. This cherished event is made possible only by the incredible dedication of our volunteers and the profound generosity of our community.

As we look back on 25 years of memories, we invite you to be part of the story for the next 25 and beyond.
